Michael Chandler feels entitled to rematch with ‘Pitbull’ due to controversial stoppage

At Bellator 221, Michael Chandler was defeated by Patricio “Pitbull” Freire. Losing an arch rivalry match and his championship, Michael Chandler was devastated.

If we recap the fight, Michael Chandler was stunned by a heavy punch from the Pitbull, and within a flash of  moments the fight was declared over by the referee. However, Chandler has continued to argue, that he was not in any kind of danger, and he deserved additional time to recover.

Post his loss, speaking to MMA Junkie, Michael Chandler expressed his desire for an immediate rematch with Patricio “Pitbull” Freire. The recently former champion admits that opinions vary on the outcome and stoppage of the fight, but he believes the majority of viewers would agree with his perspective of an early stoppage to that fight.  Therefore, Michael believes the rematch with Patricio “Pitbull” Freire is not far.

“I’m the fighter” ; “The promoters will promote. I think you’re going to see an overwhelming majority of people that are going to want to see a rematch. I think Bellator’s probably going to want to see a rematch. Of course, I want the rematch”.

“Whether you’re in the camp that thinks it was an early stoppage or not, I’m not going to sit up here and rant and rave about all of that. You could’ve had 10,000 different refs in there and had it go 10,000 different ways or on the other side. … Patricio ‘Pitbull’ will step back in the cage with me, it’s just a matter of when.” “Did I get hit? Yeah. Was I out? Absolutely not,”.
