Bellator 222 was for Heather Hardy an event to forget, as the former WBO featherweight boxing champion made an awful outing with an incredible TKO defeat in the hands of Taylor Turner.
Hardy returned to the Bellator 222 event in New York with hope of knocking out her ferocious opponent but the table turned against the 37-year old mixed martial artist.
The loss caused a setback in Hardy’s mixed martial arts career, slipping his record to 2-2. The setback also prompted pundits demanding the return of the WBC International Female Super Bantamweight title holder to boxing.
With a 22-0 record inside the squared circle, Heather is no minnows in the ring, but lack of contenders sent her to an MMA career with Bellator in 207.
In a swift reaction to negative comments from fans, Heather went to Twitter to express her disappointment over the loss, but not without leaving a message for the haters about their feelings over the defeat.
“The hardest part of that loss, is knowing that there were so many people out there who enjoyed watching me lose. I see you all, with your negative hateful comments. I don’t respond-but they sit with me. I’m just a regular mom trying my best. I’m just doing the best I can for Annie.”
The most recent outing for Hardy in boxing was back in October 2018 where she handed a beautiful defeat to Shelley Vincent via unanimous decision as she clinched her current holding title of WBO female featherweight.
It is yet to be seen what Hardy looks forward to engage in future.
