Miesha Tate, the former UFC bantamweight champion, is set to make her return to the octagon this summer in a fight against Mayra Bueno Silva.
In a recent Instagram post, Tate announced her intention to face Silva in May, but sources familiar with the negotiations revealed that the fight will take place at a UFC event on June 3. This news was initially reported by Dama de Ferro MMA.
Tate’s return to the 135-pound division comes after an unsuccessful stint at flyweight, where she suffered a points defeat to Lauren Murphy at UFC on ABC 3.
After coming out of retirement in 2020, Tate has struggled in the octagon with losses to Murphy and Ketlen Vieira in her last two fights. Since her famous upset victory over Holly Holm at UFC 196, Tate has only won one of her five fights.
Meanwhile, Silva is riding a three-fight win streak, with her most recent victory coming against Lina Lansberg at UFC Vegas 69 via submission. The DWCS veteran has a record of 5-2-1 in the UFC.
Although the June 3 event has yet to be officially announced by the UFC, no location or venue has been confirmed yet.
