Benson Henderson, a former UFC lightweight champion, has announced his plans to retire from MMA after the Grand Prix tournament.
Henderson had won his last two fights, including a big victory over Islam Mamedov, before taking a break from fighting. He will be fighting as a massive underdog in his upcoming bout against Usman Nurmagomedov, which will be the opening bout of the lightweight Grand Prix at Bellator 292.
During the media day, Henderson explained that he plans to retire after the Grand Prix so that he can support his wife, who is also a fighter signed to Bellator.
Henderson stated that he has no temptation to stay in the sport and that he wants to focus on helping his wife with her career while also taking care of their children.
