Reportedly, the long-awaited heavyweight clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury is close to being finalized. The two champions have been in talks for several months to fight each other, with their management initially targeting a showdown in December 2021. However, due to Usyk’s injury, Fury instead faced Derek Chisora, winning by knockout.
Despite both fighters teasing the match-up, negotiations hit a snag over revenue split. Nevertheless, they seem to have reached an agreement, and as reported by Mike Coppinger of ESPN Ringside, Fury and Usyk have informed the WBA of a deal.
The historic fight is set to take place on April 29th at London’s Wembley Stadium, and the winner will become the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over two decades since Lennox Lewis.
