The UFC Charlotte in May will feature Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Jailton Almeida as the main event

The UFC’s fans can look forward to a star-studded event as two heavyweights will take on each other in the return to North Carolina in the month of May. According to a statement made by the promotion, that the May 13 event at the Spectrum Center will witness Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Jailton Almeida at the headlining event.

It was initially declared that Anthony Smith and Johnny Walker’s lightweight bout would be the main attraction, but Smith himself revealed to Damon Martin of MMA Fighting that his fight would instead be deemed as the co-main event. Smith added that he was informed by his manager that the fight would last only three rounds instead of five.

Smith, however, remains unfazed by the change in the event and his new role. “It is what it is. First fight of the night, last fight of the night or somewhere in between — it makes no difference to me. I’m focused on only myself and the things I can control,” he said.

Rozenstruik has a track record of quick finishes in his UFC run with a 7-4 record. He knocked out Chris Daukaus in just 23 seconds in his previous fight at UFC 282. His UFC résumé also includes lightning-fast victories over Allen Crowder (9 seconds) and Andrei Arlovski (29 seconds).

On the other hand, Almeida has established himself as a formidable contender, having won all four of his UFC fights. Furthermore, the Brazilian has won his last 13 fights consecutively, including a ground-and-pound knockout of heavyweight veteran Shamil Abdurakhimov in the second round in his recent tilt at UFC 283.
