Jorge Masvidal and Kevin Holland exchanged heated words in the lobby of the host hotel ahead of UFC 287 in Miami, but sources familiar with the incident described it as “nothing major.” According to reports, there was no physical altercation, and no punches were thrown. Video footage emerged on social media showing the two welterweights shouting at each other, with UFC security officers keeping them at a distance.
UFC officials were already aware of the brewing tension between the two fighters and ensured they were separated leading up to their upcoming bouts on Saturday. Holland addressed the incident on his Instagram page but claimed that there would be no opponent changes despite his concern.
Masvidal, a native to Miami, is scheduled to fight against Gilbert Burns in the co-main event, while Holland is set to take on Santiago Ponzinibbio in another match in the pay-per-view broadcast.
In light of the confrontation, the UFC is expected to maintain a safe distance between the two fighters for the remainder of the week. However, both fighters will appear at the pre-fight press conference scheduled for Thursday evening.
