As Endeavor, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), recently acquired a majority share in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), talks of a crossover event abound. In fact, UFC fighters Alexander Volkanovski and Robert Whittaker are already playing their parts in entertaining WWE fans.
During a skit on FOX Sports Australia, the duo dressed up as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan, respectively. They joked about the UFC-WWE merger and happily took part in a Q&A segment with the host. When asked about which UFC fighter is most likely to succeed in the WWE, Whittaker replied as Hogan, saying: “Listen to me good, brother… They looked me in my eye and they said, Robert Whittaker!” Volkanovski, as Austin, also made it clear that he and Whittaker are going to be the best in the WWE, stating: “And that’s the bottom line, because Stone Cold said so!”
This funny skit between the two UFC fighters gives us a hint of excitement about what is expected from the newly merged company in the world of sports and entertainment. However, it should be noted that the two companies will continue operating independently of one another despite the acquisition.
Nevertheless, a crossover event may very well happen, which could mean big opportunities outside of the octagon for UFC fighters looking for a new challenge. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that Volkanovski and Whittaker are keen on introducing themselves to the WWE universe.
