Aljamain Sterling, dubbed “Funk Master” and reigning 135-pound champion, has secured his spot at the top of the promotional art for UFC 288 where he is set to defend his title for the third consecutive time. Sterling is scheduled to fight returning MMA fighter, Henry Cejudo, on May 6, in a much-anticipated bout. Fans can have a peek at the recently released poster of the event below:

Sterling has established himself as the number one bantamweight in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings thanks to his latest dominant win against T.J. Dillashaw in UFC 280, a bout he won by way of TKO in the second round.

The New York native has managed to win all his past eight fights with exceptional skill and determination. From his previous successful fights, Sterling gears up to face his next opponent Cejudo, who is a decorated MMA fighter and Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler.

Cejudo has made a name for himself having won MMA titles in two divisions before his hiatus from competition last year, thus making him Sterling’s most formidable challenger to date.

In another thrilling co-main event, former UFC lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira, will make his return to the octagon for the first time after losing his title to Islam Makhachev. Oliveira, who holds a spot at No. 2 in the lightweight division of MMA Fighting Global Rankings, will take on Beneil Dariush in a fight that promises to be enticing.

Dariush has not lost a fight in eight straight matches and carries a reputation for pulling off thrilling decisions. Oliveira and Dariush are currently tied at No. 3 in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings.
