It has been confirmed that UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and Julianna Peña will go head-to-head once again in a trilogy bout, set to take place on June 10 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. The bout was revealed during Saturday’s UFC 287 broadcast, and was first reported by TSN. Nunes, who is ranked No. 1 at 135 pounds in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, will defend her title against Peña, who is hot on her heels at No. 2.
The two fighters have previously met twice, with each of them securing one victory against the other. Peña stunned Nunes with a second-round submission at UFC 269 to claim the bantamweight title, which she ultimately lost back to Nunes in a tight rematch at UFC 277. In their second fight, Nunes won convincingly with a unanimous decision, earning scores of 50-45, 50-44, and 50-43.
Before her defeat to Peña, Nunes had an impressive 12-fight win streak, which included five successful title defenses as bantamweight champion and two as featherweight champion. Currently, she is the reigning champion in both weight classes.
