On August 5th, Jake Paul and Nate Diaz are set to go head-to-head in an eight-round bout at 185 pounds in the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The fight was announced on Wednesday by Diaz’s Real Fight Inc. and Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, who have partnered for the upcoming event. DAZN will be the official broadcaster for the event, and both fighters will wear 10-ounce gloves.
For Diaz, this fight marks his first appearance since he became a free agent following his time with the UFC. The Californian fighter was searching for potential fights and eventually settled on a match with Paul in the boxing ring.
Diaz has been exchanging jabs with Paul for the past couple of years, and he stated in a press release that “Besides ‘Canelo’ [Alvarez] he’s the biggest thang in boxing. I’m here to conquer that.” Diaz also plans to return to UFC after this fight, stating that he is the “King of the Real Fight game.”
Diaz is revered for his boxing skills in the MMA community, and now he’ll finally have the opportunity to showcase them in the ring against Paul. Paul, too, is returning after a split decision loss to Tommy Fury in February. Although an immediate rematch had been anticipated, Paul will now fight Diaz instead.
Despite his loss, Paul remains confident in his boxing skills, and he’s eager to take on the challenge Diaz presents. “People tell me Nate has been training with Andre Ward for years. That he has insane stamina.
More fights are expected to be announced for the Paul vs. Diaz card in the coming weeks.
