Israel Adesanya expressed his elation over finally defeating Alex Pereira at UFC 287, saying in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan that such a feeling can’t be achieved unless one takes a risk in their own lives. The duo, who are renowned kickboxers, engaged in their fourth match and second MMA fight, with “Last Stylebender” previously losing all three bouts.
Adesanya secured a second-round knockout over “Poatan,” signalling the end of their dramatic storyline. Despite suggestions of a possible rivalry following their four fights, the most recent one brought things to another level as now both MMA bouts have ended in a victory for each fighter.
Dana White, the president of UFC, hinted at Pereira moving to light heavyweight, while Adesanya said in the post-fight press conference that he has no intention of fighting Pereira again. Adesanya emphasised his respect for Pereira’s ability, describing him as having the body of a “giant,” made for fighting.
In other stories, Matt Brown praises Adesanya as one of the greatest of all time after defeating Pereira; and there is speculation over who Adesanya’s next opponent will be. Meanwhile, Luana Pinheiro celebrates her win, and Seika Izawa is set to face off against Suwanan “Amp the Rocket” Boonsorn at Deep Jewels 41 on May 28th.
