Israel Adesanya secured a spectacular knockout victory over Alex Pereira in a thrilling UFC 287 event that saw no fighter receive lengthy bans due to medical suspension. Despite having been knocked out cold in their bout, Pereira was fortunate to only receive a 60-day suspension as the now-former UFC middleweight champion.
As for Adesanya, he was not given any such ban. Along with these two, no other fighter in the event was suspended for longer than 60 days. Adrian Yanez, Santiago Ponzinibbio, and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke are among those in the 60-day category, and though it is not clear why, the nature of their suspensions has not been revealed.
The Florida Athletic Commission oversaw the proceedings, and several other competitors were given varying medical suspensions of up to 45 and 30 days.
