Danny Sabatello shares his thoughts on teammate Jorge Masvidal’s retirement, acknowledging his reputation as a “real-life gangster”

Danny Sabatello, American Top Team teammate of Jorge Masvidal, shares that the mixed martial arts game was won by “Gamebred” as he prepares to turn the page on his combat life.

Masvidal has announced his retirement from the sport after his unanimous decision loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. He acknowledged that he was no longer the same fighter that had a magical UFC run in 2019 and landed world title shots in the following year.

Sabatello praises Masvidal’s toughness and loyalty as a teammate, sharing an anecdote of when Masvidal helped him improve during one of his early weeks at ATT. Sabatello, known as “The Italian Gangster”, has his own battle to prepare for as he faces Marcos Breno at Bellator 294 in Hawaii.

Sabatellohopes that Masvidal’s long and successful career in MMA will be acknowledged and that people will give him the credit he deserves. Despite Masvidal’s recent loss, Sabatello points out that he held his ground against a tough opponent and he’s excited to see what Masvidal will do next.
