After securing his second UFC win by knocking out Gerald Meerschaert in the first round at UFC 287, Joe Pyfer is now seeking revenge against an old opponent. He recently called out Dustin Stoltzfus, who he previously fought on the promotion’s Contender Series in 2020. In that fight, Pyfer was off to a good start until Stoltzfus went for a takedown and dislocated Pyfer’s elbow, which led to him being signed to the UFC and Pyfer having a long recovery process.
Now Pyfer wants a chance to set the record straight and claims that his arm will never straighten again because of the injury. Despite liking Stoltzfus, Pyfer is determined to fight him again since he deserves a chance back at him.
Pyfer acknowledged that the rematch may be unlikely due to the position both men are currently in. However, he does not care about the position and wants the fight back regardless of his ranking. He has DMed Stoltzfus twice but has not received a positive response, with Stoltzfus apparently disinterested in the prospect.
Pyfer has stated that he is a competitor and that he wants to run it back. If he can’t get the fight against Stoltzfus, Pyfer is willing to settle for an appropriate next step in his journey up the UFC ladder, such as fighting the winner of Cody Brundage and Rodolfo Vieira.
