Miami-Dade law enforcement officials promptly responded to a shooting incident reported at the home of UFC retiree Jorge Masvidal on Thursday. When the police arrived at the residence, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was providing aid to a male victim who had suffered gunshot wounds on his upper body extremities.
The victim claimed that he had been in an argument, which then escalated as the other party took out a firearm and shot him. As a result of this, the adult male victim was immediately taken to the hospital and is reported to be in a stable condition.
All residents present in the house at the time of the shooting incident were taken away from the scene while police took the subject, who is presumed to be the suspect, into custody without any trouble or conflicts. Despite confirming that the parties present at the home have some sort of relationship, the details of the connection have not been revealed.
The owner of the residence, Jorge Masvidal Jr was not present during the encounter and had no knowledge of the event. While the investigation is ongoing, the identity of both the suspect and the male victim have been kept confidential. Furthermore, police stated that no other person was injured in the shooting.
Masvidal, who retired from active UFC competition in April, has remained busy with his Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA promotion, which has an event in nearby Sunrise, Fla. scheduled for Friday. The UFC retiree has not yet commented regarding the incident that took place at his home.
