Kai Asakura and Juan Archuleta emerged victorious at the RIZIN 42 card, held on a Saturday morning in Saitama, Japan. Asakura, a former RIZIN 135-pound champion, scored a third-round knockout over Yuki Motoya in the main event, ending his opponent’s five-fight winning streak with a brutal knee to the body.
On the other hand, Juan Archuleta, who held the Bellator bantamweight title, won a decision over Naoki Inoue, marking his third victory in seven months. The two bantamweights are set to collide for the vacant title in July.
The event also saw Roberto Satoshi defend his lightweight championship title against Spike Carlyle. Although the title was not on the line for the match, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu expert managed to win the unanimous decision after multiple ground attacks on Carlyle.
The rest of the night included UFC veteran John Dodson, who won by decision, and Ya-Man and Kazumasa Majima, who won by violent ground and pound and a Von Flue choke, respectively.
