Mackenzie Dern and Angela Hill will now be the main event of UFC Vegas 73 on May 20th, with a five-round strawweight contest scheduled. Originally, this clash was set for just three rounds at UFC on ABC 4 in Charlotte, N.C. Due to Irene Aldana being removed from her upcoming clash with Raquel Pennington and instead replacing Julianna Peña at UFC 289, the company had to find a new main event for the May 20th card. Pennington is now anticipated to face Amanda Nunes for the UFC bantamweight belt on June 10th in Vancouver, Canada.

Mackenzie Dern, victorious in seven of her ten performances in the octagon, will look to rebound after a majority decision loss to Yan Xiaonan in October of last year. Her opponent, Angela Hill, a former Invicta FC champion, currently holds a two-fight winning streak with decision victories over Lupita Godinez and Emily Ducote in 2022.
