One fighter who left an indelible mark was Bryan Battle, the local hero, who furnished a scintillating 14-second knockout over Gabe Green in the preliminary card. Despite initially being ineligible for a bonus, owing to a weight mishap on the previous day, his stunning knockout persuaded White to overturn the decision and reward Battle for his brilliance.
Matt Brown, who boasts of an illustrious UFC career dating back to his participation in The Ultimate Fighter Season 7 in 2008, drew level with the all-time UFC knockout record and received a $50,000 bonus after he nonchalantly finished Court McGee in the first round.
Brown has been a frequent beneficiary of post-fight bonuses, with Saturday’s being his 9th in total. In the main event, Jailton Almeida sealed a bonus too after he wrapped a submission victory over Jairzinho Rozenstruik in the first round, extending his winning sequence to 14.
Carlos Ulberg secured $50,000 Performance of the Night award for his first-round knockout of Ihor Potieria, adding to his “Fight of the Night” accolade he got during his debut fight.
Finally, up-and-coming Ian Garry showcased his assortment of skills, sealing a bonus after a thunderous head kick led to a submission victory over Daniel Rodriguez within seconds.
