According to sources familiar with the matter, Jared Gordon will be making a prompt return to the octagon in a match against Jim Miller at UFC Vegas 74. Miller, who was originally set to face Ludovit Klein, had his opponent replaced due to reported undisclosed reasons.
The event is set to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, with the main card airing. Gordon agreed to face Miller on short notice, following an unsatisfactory bout with Bobby Green at UFC Vegas 71, which ended in a no-contest decision due to accidental headbutting.
After his controversial loss against Paddy Pimblett in December 2021 at UFC 282, Gordon had hoped to return to the win column. Miller, an accomplished submission artist, will make his 41st appearance in the octagon as he continues his mission to become the first fighter to compete in 50 UFC fights.
With a total of 16 submissions to his credit, Miller has an opportunity to close the gap between him and Charles Oliveira, who currently holds the all-time submission record with 19.
In Miller’s most recent fight against Alexander Hernandez at UFC Vegas 69, his three-fight winning streak was snapped as he fell to a decision loss. Headlining the UFC Vegas 74 event is a flyweight match-up between Kai Kara-France and Amir Albazi.
