Aljamain Sterling, the UFC bantamweight champion, responded to recent comments made by UFC President Dana White. Sterling accepted a fight to defend his title against Sean O’Malley in August but expressed a need to see how his body healed after a recent bout with Henry Cejudo.
Following the announcement of the fight, White suggested that Sterling “is one of those guys who can’t get out of his own way”, but confirmed the fight was on. The Weekly Scraps stated that he has done everything the UFC has requested of him and deserves some respect from White. He detailed his accomplishments, including winning three consecutive title defenses and beating former champions with injuries, and expressed frustration at being made to look bad.
Sterling has an impressive nine-fight win streak and a strange title reign, and he stands by his word and ultimately wants respect for his accomplishments. Sterling called out White for not giving him credit where due and would like White to clarify his comments to avoid misunderstanding.
