Bellator fighter Patricio Pitbull believes his third championship belt will cement his legacy as an MMA great

Patricio Pitbull, a former Bellator featherweight and lightweight champion, is set to challenge for the Bellator bantamweight title against Sergio Pettis on July 16th. Although Pitbull achieved the rare feat of holding two belts simultaneously, he feels that his accomplishment doesn’t receive the recognition it deserves due to biases in some corners of the MMA media and fanbase focusing on the fact that it occurred under the Bellator banner.

Pitbull doesn’t place too much emphasis on such opinions, stating that his results speak for themselves, and that Bellator has been loyal to him and given him a platform to showcase his abilities. Pitbull considers himself as one of the greatest fighters of all-time, and aiming to win titles in three different weight classes, something that no MMA fighter has ever accomplished before, solidifies this claim.

While he acknowledges that some sections of the sports media may not recognize his accomplishments, he is confident that history will eventually highlight his achievements. Although he believes it would be more beneficial for his legacy if it occurred in the UFC, Pitbull understands the quality of talent that Bellator has to offer, including Fedor Emelianenko and Cris Cyborg, and the importance of acknowledging it.

Despite struggling with the weight cut, Pitbull remains committed to winning the bantamweight title. He is already eyeing up a possible return to featherweight to defend his title before accepting a fight with grand prix winner and interim champion Patchy Mix. Pitbull understands the hard work involved in being a two-division champion and is ready to defend his titles and move through the weight classes. He has expressed wanting to receive a good offer for his services and compensation for the difficulty involved in cutting weight. Overall, Pitbull sees himself as a champion of champions and looks to cement his legacy in the sport.
