Professional MMA fighters pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives on Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a solemn occasion of remembrance and respect for fallen American service members. For many MMA veterans, this day is deeply personal due to either their own or their family members’ military service, while others choose to simply honor the sacrifice made by those who gave their lives for their country.

In honor of Memorial Day, former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, ex-heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic and bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling expressed their gratitude for fallen service members. Fans can see their messages, along with several other MMA veterans’ expressions of thanks to soldiers on this day.

Miocic shared his deep appreciation for the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. Similarly, Weidman took a moment to pause in silence to remember the ultimate price paid for their freedom with a tweet. Pearl Gonzalez, on the other hand, chose to celebrate this day with her military appreciation by sharing her love of a man in uniform, while Lando Vannata and Dan Ige shared patriotic images to honor the day.

For some veterans, Memorial Day brings about memories of comrades lost, leading to a rough day and rough nights of rough dreams. Tim Kennedy acknowledged these struggles and encouraged veterans to seek support from the Veterans Crisis Line. Similarly, Ian Heinisch honored America’s heroes who gave their lives for the country, and Nik Lentz shared a poignant image of soldiers placing flags at graves.

Finally, Court McGee shared a quote that always touches his heart and commemorates the brave soul’s sacrifice that military members made while serving in the US Military. Invicta FC also marked this day by highlighting Leslie Smith_GF and Kaitlin Young’s fight at Soldier and Sailors Memorial Hall back in 2012.

Overall, Memorial Day holds a special place in the hearts of many, and MMA veterans took the time to share their respect, gratitude, and remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
