Brave CF is set to welcome Rasul Magomedov into the world of professional MMA in June. Magomedov is no stranger to high level competition, having secured a win over renowned wrestler Kyle Snyder in a freestyle match.
The young fighter boasts an impressive amateur record of 13 consistent wins over a period of 18 months between 2021 and 2023 as well as two IMMAF World Championships as a heavyweight. Now, he plans to step down to 205 pounds for his professional debut against Mohamed Hisham Baraka (1-0) at Brave CF 72.
When asked about his choice to turn pro in 2023, Magomedov credited his success to his past experiences. “My amateur career helped me a lot,” he explains. “Having competed in hundreds of fights in wrestling and sambo, MMA competition didn’t faze me like it may have other fighters who jumped right into MMA. I felt no pressure at all.”
Magomedov also attributes his background in combat sambo for his smooth transition into amateur MMA, which he describes as “very similar.” Despite only having 13 amateur fights, he managed to secure three knockouts and a submission.
When it comes to his future in MMA, Magomedov has his sights set high, already eyeing the light heavyweight rankings. “I’m watching the light heavyweight rankings worldwide and I don’t see any unbeatable name in the top 10. I can see myself on the top of that ranking.”
