Karine Silva yet again, showcased her exceptional finishing skills by submitting Ketlen Souza with one of the most gruesome attacks in recent history, adding another impressive victory to her already impressive resume.
The action kicked off in the opening round of UFC Vegas 74, as Silva assumed a leg lock position in an apparent attempt to execute an ankle lock. However, just as she was about to transition into the heel hook, Silva twisted her torso, forcing Souza’s leg to twist along with it, exerting immense pressure in the process.
Just moments later, the knee visibly popped from the submission, leaving Souza writhing in pain. Silva gained a swift victory as Souza surrendered soon after. However, Souza had to be assisted off the field by her trainers as she was in a lot of pain.
Silva has perfected the common leg lock position, and after the fight, she mentioned that it was a maneuver she had perfected a great deal in training. “I had planned for the heel hook, but the snap happened before, and I had to let go,” Silva explained.
Although slow-motion replays were not very clear about the extent of the damage to Souza’s knee, the move was undeniably creative on Silva’s part, and she has now won two successive UFC battles.
With all 16 of her wins coming from either KO or submission, Silva boasts an impressive resume accountable for her exceptional skills and abilities. On the other hand, the full damage inflicted on Souza’s knee is still unknown, and the extent of it will be revealed after an MRI with her physician.
