The UFC has bid farewell to six established fighters who completed their contracts and were not re-signed by the organization. Among the names on the list are seasoned veterans Makwan Amirkhani, Tony Gravely, Omar Morales, Trevin Jones, Batgerel Danaa, and Mounir Lazzez.
Amirkhani’s UFC career comes to an end with a 1-5 record in his past six bouts, including two consecutive losses versus Jack Shore and Jonathan Pearce in his most recent appearances in the octagon. The experienced 34-year-old made an impressive start to his UFC foray by winning his first three consecutive matches before dropping a split decision to the current featherweight contender, Arnold Allen.
Jones’ UFC journey concludes after four consecutive losses, culminating in a defeat to former bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt, in his last match. After joining UFC via Dana White’s Contender Series, Gravely had an overall record of 4-4 in the promotion, losing back-to-back matches to Victor Henry and Javid Basharat.
Morales’ last five UFC fights saw him earn only one victory, with three defeats in a row. He most recently succumbed to a split decision loss to Chris Duncan. Batgerel’s UFC run ends with three consecutive losses after starting his stint with an impressive 3-1 record.
Regarding Lazzez, he had a noteworthy debut in Abu Dhabi in 2020, but during his tenure with the promotion, he amassed a 2-2 record. As the UFC decides to release these fighters from its roster due to the expiration of their current contracts, it remains unknown if any of them will return. However, given their previous success and experience, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see them make a comeback in the promotion in the future.
