Andre Ward claims that people are underestimating Nate Diaz’s potential to put up a formidable challenge against Jake Paul

Andre Ward, a retired boxer with an unbeaten record of 32-0, is uniquely positioned to speak on Nate Diaz’s boxing ability, having been sparring partners with him in the past. In light of Diaz’s upcoming match against Jake Paul on August 5th in Dallas, Ward advises fans to not jump to conclusions based solely a pad hitting session, as these types of shots may not look pretty but they keep coming from different angles, especially coming from a fighter with Diaz’s level of experience.

Furthermore, Diaz has to demonstrate that he can take a hit from Jake Paul, whose natural right hand packs a serious punch. If he can withstand it, then Diaz stands a good chance of putting up a real fight. While Ward has not entered the ring since defeating Sergey Kovalev in 2017, he has expressed interest in making a comeback, whether in an exhibition match or a professional one.

As for his involvement with Diaz ahead of his fight against Paul, Ward plans to meet up with his fellow fighter at some point this summer. Being no stranger to Diaz’s style, Ward has respect for what he and his brother Nick have accomplished in the sport and in their hometown of Stockton. There’s no doubt that Diaz has his work cut out for him in this upcoming fight, but with the support of his fellow boxers and the skills he’s honed over many years, he’s sure to give his all.
