Martin Lewandowski explains KSW champion vacating title and addressing crowd during the show

Marian Ziolkowski, the reigning lightweight champion, faced an unfortunate setback at the highly anticipated Colosseum 2 event hosted by KSW. He was set to defend his title against interim champion Salahdine Parnasse in a unification bout, but suffered a freak injury during his warm-up routine, which rendered him unable to compete. Despite this setback, Marian chose to come up to the ring and address the audience of over 50,000 people.

Following Marian’s withdrawal, KSW President Martin Lewandowski explained that Parnasse’s interim lightweight champion status had been officially upgraded to undisputed, making him a two-division champion. Although Marian’s withdrawal was disappointing, Lewandowski felt that it was important for him to speak to the crowd and explain the situation.

Lewandowski revealed that he received a call from Marian’s warm-up room, stating that he had experienced a knee injury and was unable to compete. As this was the third time that the fight had been postponed, with Marian having suffered two injuries previously, Lewandowski believed that Marian’s withdrawal was unfortunate and needed to be explained to the audience.

He further stated that Marian had agreed to address the situation publicly and had shown great professionalism despite his disappointment and frustration. Lewandowski praised Marian’s honesty and acknowledged that he had been eagerly anticipating the fight, having previously spoken about his excitement at fighting in the biggest venue in Poland, with a gladiator theme around it. Despite Marian’s withdrawal, Parnasse’s win saw him emerge victorious as the undisputed champion, thus cementing his place as a two-division champion.
