Mayra Bueno Silva may support Amanda Nunes, but she foresees Irene Aldana winning in UFC 289 as “She’s not hungry”

Mayra Bueno Silva, a Brazilian UFC bantamweight fighter, has predicted an upset victory for Irene Aldana over current champion Amanda Nunes at the upcoming UFC 289. Silva expressed her admiration for Nunes but commented that she didn’t believe the champ was as focused anymore. With Aldana’s solid boxing skills and successful knockouts of Yana Santos and Macy Chiasson, Silva believes Aldana could claim the title.

Silva attributes Nunes’ perceived lack of hunger to the fact that she is expecting a child and may be nearing retirement, having already conquered every former champion in the division. Training at American Top Team in Florida, Silva is focused on her upcoming fight against Holly Holm but also hopes to earn a shot at Nunes and UFC gold before the champ retires.

Silva recognizes that defeating Nunes is a significant challenge for any fighter and that Nunes is, in fact, the greatest of all time. Silva’s ultimate ambition is to beat the fighter who has beaten everybody and become the one who has beaten everybody, and she hopes Nunes will remain in competition long enough for her to have the opportunity to face her in the octagon.
