Marlon Moraes has called it quits in MMA after losing at PFL 4

Marlon Moraes, a seasoned bantamweight who formerly held the World Series of Fighting championship before he was a one-time UFC title contender, has announced his retirement after losing his seventh successive bout, this time to Gabriel Braga at PFL 4 in Atlanta. Unlike his last retirement announcement, Moraes seems to be genuinely ready to step away from the fight game. In his previous fights, Moraes lost every bout by knockout or TKO.

Following his defeat to Braga, Moraes slipped off his gloves and, with tears in his eyes, declared that he was retiring after the fight. Moraes claimed that he was finally at home after starting with the World Series of Fighting and then transitioning to the UFC. He was unable to claim more wins in the cage for PFL. However, he gave every fight all his heart and was grateful for his wife and children.

Moraes had been considered among the top 135-pounders globally, having secured 11 back-to-back wins in the World Series of Fighting, which included five bantamweight title defenses. After Moraes joined the UFC as a free agent, he barely lost his debut to Raphael Assuncao before rallying once again with four successive victories, including a ruthless knockout of future UFC champ Aljamain Sterling.

Moraes slacked behind on his UFC title bid when he was defeated by Henry Cejudo in a fluctuating brawl, but he rebounded promptly with a triumph over Jose Aldo upon his return. Unfortunately, this victory was his final one, and he struggled with four successive defeats, leading him to retire prematurely.

Moraes revived his profession by moving to the PFL as a featherweight six months later and competed in that category. He did, however, lose his first two PFL bouts, making his recent decision to hang up his gloves all the more understandable. In conclusion, Marlon Moraes will retire with a record of 23-13-1.
