Charles Oliveira secures a $50k bonus for smashing Beneil Dariush’s record in UFC 289

Charles Oliveira has added another notable achievement to his UFC legacy. During his co-main event fight last Saturday, Oliveira secured his 20th victory by finish, dispatching Beneil Dariush in the first round. This finish did not just set a new milestone for the most stoppages in the UFC a record Oliveira already held but also earned him the coveted Performance of the Night bonus, amounting to $50,000.

As a result, Oliveira now boasts a record 13 Performance bonuses, breaking away from a tie with Donald Cerrone for most Post Fight bonuses. Oliveira’s victory on the day also secured his status as the sole leader in this category, with an impressive 19 awards under his belt.

Aside from Oliveira’s success, several other fighters pocketed some extra cash from their performances at UFC 289. Mike Malott, who emerged victorious in a main card bout against Adam Fugitt, earned the same $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.

Meanwhile, Stephen Erceg, who took on a top 10 fighter David Dvorak on short notice, also claimed the same award during the prelims, scoring a significant upset win. Moreover, Marc-Andre Barriault and Eryk Anders, who competed in a thrilling three-round opener, were also honored with Fight of the Night awards.

As for the headlining women’s bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana, it was Nunes who showed her dominance by scoring a unanimous decision win. After the victory, Nunes announced that she was indeed retiring from MMA.
