Chris Curtis displays gruesome wounds caused by collision with Nassourdine Imavov during UFC 289

Chris Curtis’ unfortunate run of luck continues as he suffered yet another setback at UFC 289. In a controversial decision at UFC 287, Curtis lost to Kelvin Gastelum after being dropped in the second round by a headbutt that went unnoticed by the referee and judges. Looking to make a comeback, he faced Nassourdine Imavov in the final prelim of UFC 289 on Saturday but it seems that history repeated itself.

In the second round, Curtis and Imavov accidentally clashed heads, causing a major gash on Curtis’ right eyelid. Referee Jason Herzog noticed the incident and stopped the bout, but the damage was already done. Although Curtis pleaded to continue, he was rendered unable to see and the fight was called off. His injuries included 10 stitches and a possible corneal abrasion.

Curtis took to social media to apologize to his fans, especially those from Canada who have always supported him. Unfortunately, it seems like Curtis’ modeling career is over before it even began, as he showed off a stitched-up cut on social media the following day.

The no-contest fight is the latest in a string of defeats for Curtis, who was 1-2 in his last three fights. There is currently no word on how long Curtis will be out of commission. Despite everything, however, Curtis remains positive and good-natured, even joking about the “ridiculous way” he lost. He expressed love and appreciation for his fans and hopes to return to fight in Canada soon.
