Dan Ige utilized precise striking to secure a victory via decision against Nate Landwehr in UFC 289

Dan Ige demonstrated his exceptional fighting skills at UFC 289, proving himself as one of the superior featherweights in the world. Although the anticipated Fight of the Night wasn’t completely fulfilled during Ige’s bout with Nate Landwehr (17-5), the Hawaiian fighter still put on an impressive striking performance that warranted a unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) win.

With this victory, Ige (17-6) has taken his winning streak to two after a three-fight losing run. In his previous match, he had scored a second-round knockdown against Damon Jackson, which helped him bounce back as a winner.

Landwehr didn’t make it easy for Ige though. He proved to be a durable fighter and couldn’t be finished easily, but Ige tried his best to do so. The opening round saw both fighters show respect towards each other, but Ige got a head start by hitting Landwehr with an impactful left hook.

Ige was able to keep Landwehr unsettled during the second round by mixing his techniques, throwing left hook punches, attacking the body and utilizing combinations. Landwehr managed to find some openings as well, but Ige maintained his form throughout the match.

In the last round, Landwehr became more aggressive and had Ige on the defensive. However, Ige’s well-crafted defensive strategies prevented Landwehr from gaining any traction. Unfortunately for Landwehr, this loss breaks his three-fight win streak and it’s his first time being defeated since February 2021.
