Conor McGregor supports John Gotti III amid Floyd Mayweather controversy

Conor McGregor has taken a stance amidst the ongoing argument between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and John Gotti III. The two boxers had an exhibition match on Sunday, which quickly turned chaotic as a scuffle broke out between both fighters’ entourages after the referee stopped the fight.

Gotti expressed his unwavering hatred towards Mayweather and called for “backup” from McGregor, who showed his support for Gotti through a tweet that has since been removed. In 2017, McGregor and Mayweather faced off in a renowned cross-discipline boxing match labelled “The Money Fight”, where McGregor lost to Mayweather in the tenth round by TKO.

Since then, the pair have vacillated between polite comments and banter, with both sides hinting that they might face each other again. But for now, McGregor has his sight set on his Mixed Martial Arts career.

The former two-division champion has not fought since fracturing his leg in a bout against Dustin Poirier during their trilogy fight at UFC 264. But McGregor is expected to return to the UFC in a highly anticipated fight against past Bellator lightweight champion and Ultimate Fighting Championship coach Michael Chandler, likely before the end of the year.
