Marlon Moraes called time on his fighting career last Thursday at PFL 4, succumbing to a seventh consecutive knockout loss. If he does have second thoughts, he must acquire medical clearance before stepping into the ring. Gabriel Braga delivered the coup de grace a little over three minutes into the opening round, ensuring that Moraes ended his brief period with the PFL with three straight losses, having retired in 2022 after exiting the UFC.
The Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission released details of the medical suspensions for all the fighters who featured on Monday, with Moraes receiving a mandatory 60-day suspension and an indefinite suspension that necessitates a doctor’s authorization before returning to the sport. Should Moraes decide to remain in retirement, neither of these suspensions impact him, though it still stands that he was knocked out for a seventh time in a row.
In addition to Moraes, the only other fighter to receive a lengthy suspension was Delan Monte, whose night ended prematurely after sustaining a severe knee injury in his match with Josh Silveira. As a result, Monte will be unsure of when he can compete again, receiving a mandatory 90-day suspension and an indefinite suspension that mandates proven medical fitness prior to his re-entry to the ring.
