Jake Paul will step into the ring with Nate Diaz for a 10-round boxing match in August

Jake Paul has responded to the request of his opponent, Nate Diaz, to increase the number of rounds for their upcoming bout on August 5th in Dallas. Diaz, known for his extraordinary conditioning, has asked for the fight to shift from eight to ten rounds, a request that Paul is more than happy to accept. The additional rounds will be the first time that Paul has been scheduled for a ten-round fight during his boxing career.

Paul took to social media to confirm this development, stating that Diaz has made a request for 10 rounds and, “I guess he has good cardio. Ok Nathan, 10 rounds it is.” The fight will still be contested at 185 pounds with the fighters wearing 10-ounce gloves, and whilst an official request has been made for the additional rounds, approval is pending from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Diaz’s stamina and staying power have been a hallmark of his career, with his conditioning often used to bludgeon opponents in the later rounds of fights. During his 25-minute showdown with future UFC welterweight champion, Leon Edwards in 2021, Diaz nearly scored a late finish in the fifth and final round despite losing the majority of the fight up to that point.

Diaz also displayed this durability and staying power in his rematch with Conor McGregor in 2016, where he absorbed a barrage of punches but kept coming back until the final horn sounded. Diaz will look to harness this conditioning and durability as he makes his professional boxing debut against Paul in August, banking on using his experience to his advantage in the ring.

The fight itself will take place at the American Airlines Center, with the card being distributed. With the addition of two more rounds, the fight promises to be an intriguing matchup between two experienced fighters. Diaz and Paul’s clash will undoubtedly be an event worth watching, with both competitors bringing their unique fighting style to the ring.

As the request for additional rounds continues to await approval, the fighters will continue their preparations, with Diaz utilising his impressive conditioning to get an edge in the upcoming bout. Following the addition of the two extra rounds, the fans now eagerly anticipate Diaz and Paul’s fight as the excitement for the fight builds and the anticipation for the two fighters to step into the ring continues to grow.
