John Gotti III receives six-month suspension from Florida commission due to his involvement in Floyd Mayweather incident

John Gotti III has been handed a six-month suspension by the Florida State Athletic Commission following his actions during an exhibition boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. In the bout held at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida, Gotti III, the grandson of notorious mob boss John Gotti, refused to stop fighting despite referee Kenny Bayless calling a halt to proceedings.

This prompted an in-ring melee that lasted several minutes. Afterwards, The Florida Department of Business and Regulation explained that its Florida Athletic Commission suspended Gotti III for his post-fight actions. While Mayweather was not sanctioned as a result of the incident and the fighting was limited to camps.

Mayweather initially taunted Gotti III who was overwhelmed against the champion and the exhibition match was stopped by Bayless in the latter rounds. Gotti III then continued to engage in the fight leading to the scuffle. Mayweather and Gotti III’s camps could later be seen involved in fighting themselves.

The day after the fight, Gotti III labelled Mayweather his “enemy for life” and called on Conor McGregor for support. McGregor, who lost to Mayweather during the mega-fight in 2017, has responded to Gotti III’s request for assistance.
