Charles Oliveira has expressed his desire to face Islam Makhachev for a rematch, with the Brazilian wanting the bout to take place in his hometown of São Paulo, Brazil. Makhachev is the reigning UFC lightweight champion, having submitted Oliveira last October in Abu Dhabi before defending the title against Alex Volkanovski in February.
Oliveira acknowledged that “there are levels” in the sport but that he is confident in his abilities and willing to take on Makhachev once again. Oliveira’s managers, Jorge Patino “Macaco” and Diego Lima, are in discussions with the UFC about his next fight, and the Brazilian insisted that he is ready to face anyone, wherever the bout may take place.
Despite opening as the underdog against Makhachev, Oliveira said that he relishes the opportunity to prove his doubters wrong, and joked that he would be happy to help those backing him make some money.
