The main event of UFC Nashville, set to take place on August 5th, will feature bantamweight fighters Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov. UFC officials recently unveiled this exciting pairing. This booking is a noteworthy accomplishment for Nurmagomedov, who remains undefeated with a 16-0 record but will be going up against his toughest opponent yet. Despite this, he has already secured four UFC victories, with finishes over Raoni Barcelos, Brian Kelleher, and Sergey Morozov.
Umar Nurmagomedov, the cousin of renowned ex-UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, requested an opportunity to compete against a higher level of competition, and he’s getting that chance this August.
As a prominent competitor in the 135-pound category, Sandhagen has already proven himself and, following his impressive victories over Marlon Vera and Song Yadong, will make his third consecutive appearance as the main event fighter.
Nurmagomedov previously competed for an interim bantamweight championship, but was unsuccessful in a matchup with previous champ Petr Yan. Sandhagen is now eagerly anticipating his chance to cement his spot at the top of the rankings in a match against the young and promising Nurmagomedov.
Sandhagen will go head-to-head with Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC Fight Night, with additional matchups to be announced in the coming weeks.
