Larissa Pacheco and Ante Delija lead the charge in a night of explosive finishes at PFL 5

Heavyweight fighter Ante Delija secured the victory against Maurice Green in the main event of PFL 5, but after missing his first fight of the season, he also needed a first-round finish to qualify for the 2023 playoffs. However, Green proved a tough opponent who clinched and grappled throughout the fight with the heavyweight champion.

Delija managed to land a few hard strikes that earned him a unanimous decision with 29-28 scorecards. Nonetheless, neither fighter managed to qualify for the heavyweight playoffs, as Renan Ferreira, Denis Goltsov, Marcelo Nunes, and Jordan Heiderman claimed the spots in the $1 million bracket.

Larissa Pacheco continues to dominate the PFL cage. The 2022 lightweight champion locked in the top seed in the women’s featherweight playoffs after knocking out Amber Leibrock in less than a minute in the co-main event. This win puts her in an excellent position to become the first-ever two-division champion in PFL.

Renan Ferreira secures his spot as the No. 2 seed in the playoffs after knocking out Mattheus Scheffel within 50 seconds of the first round in a highly-aggressive approach. Ferreira walked through Scheffel’s punches before delivering a savage left hook that face-plated Scheffel. The win sets up a semifinal matchup with Marcelo Nunes.

Muhammad Ali’s grandson, Biaggio Ali Walsh, continues to ascend up the amateur ranks after knocking out Travell Miller in his fourth win as an amateur fighter. The young prospect had big expectations going into this fight, and he delivered, showing that he is not yet ready to make the jump to the pros despite his exciting style.

Aspen Ladd finally got her first finish in the PFL after submitting Karolina Sobek with an armbar in the second round of the opening fight of the main card. However, her previous loss meant that the finish was not enough to secure her spot in the playoffs.

Other notable results from PFL 5 included Denis Goltsov’s KO win over Yorgan De Castro, Marina Mokhnatkina’s unanimous decision win over Evelyn Martins, and Olena Kolesnyk’s unanimous decision win over Yoko Higashi. Isaiah Pinson also defied Denzel Freeman in a split decision during the fight.
