Andre Ward opines that Tyson Fury should face Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou, but acknowledges it as unlikely at the moment

Legendary boxer and current sports analyst Andre Ward expressed his eagerness to see Tyson Fury fight UFC champions Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. Ngannou, who recently signed with PFL, is expected to take on a boxing match before his promotional debut in 2024, with Fury as a potential opponent.

On the other hand, Dana White offered Fury a respectful challenge for an octagon match with current heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones, which many fans are rooting for. Despite understanding White’s promotional tactics, Ward favors the Fury vs. Jones or Francis fight, highlighting his respect for Jones’ fight style.

However, even with the buzz surrounding Fury’s potential opponents, Ward doesn’t see it happening anytime soon. Although Fury has been publicly negotiating potential matchups with Ngannou, Jones, and Oleksandr Usyk, nothing has been finalized. Even though Ward believes that Fury would take a bag like Floyd Mayweather, he thinks Fury is still figuring out his boxing career and shouldn’t jump into an MMA fight right now.

Ward also discusses Ngannou’s free agency, which has been one of the most discussed storylines in MMA. Despite White’s actions seemingly trying to delegitimize his former champion since they departed, Ward praises Ngannou’s team for how they handled everything and ultimately got the deal they wanted. He added that regardless of the criticism, Ngannou will get paid.

Overall, Ward believes that Fury needs to return to the squared circle with contenders first and get a boxing fight, such as with Joshua, before jumping into the octagon with UFC champions. While he would love to see Fury battle it out with Ngannou and Jones, he thinks it’s not the right time yet.
