Veteran officials chosen for refereeing and judging duties at UFC 290 title bouts

The Nevada Athletic Commission has recently approved the arbiters for the highly anticipated UFC 290 title fights set to take place at T-Mobile Arena on July 8th. Alexander Volkanovski will engage Yair Rodriguez in a featherweight unification match, and Brandon Moreno will defend his flyweight belt in a clash against Alexandre Pantoja.

In the main event, Herb Dean will assume the position of the referee as Volkanovski and Rodriguez meet in the octagon. Meanwhile, Mike Bell, Ron McCarthy, and Sal D’Amato will adjudicate the winner.
Third man in the octagon for the co-main event will be Jason Herzog, officiating Moreno’s bout with Pantoja. In contrast, Junichiro Kamijo, Derek Cleary, and Ben Cartlidge will play the role of judges during the match.

The UFC card has always been a highlight of the latest International Fight Week, and UFC 290 will bring the week to an end dramatically. Volkanovski anticipates regain 145 pounds he lost to Islam Makhachev after his last outing to the lightweight category. Contrarily, Rodriguez claimed the UFC interim featherweight title with a stunning victory over Josh Emmett in February.

Moreno will seek redemption after his previous losses to Pantoja, whom he encountered on The Ultimate Fighter and in the UFC in 2018. Pantoja, on the other hand, will aim to ascend to the rank of UFC champion for the first time after an impressive three-fight win sequence, dispatching Manel Kape, Brandon Royval, and Alex Perez.

Finally, on July 8th, fans will witness the creme de la creme of mixed martial arts displays, featuring top-notch referees and judges, and head-to-head contests between the sport’s most decorated feather and flyweights.
