The event is set to take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, alongside Diaz’s highly-anticipated fight against Jake Paul. The contest between Avila and Stephens will be fought at the 168-pound weight class.
Avila, who recently announced his upcoming bout has emerged victorious in his last three professional boxing matches since his return to the sport in 2021. One of these wins was a majority decision against Anthony Taylor, a teammate of Paul.
Stephens, who is 37 years old, made his professional boxing debut this past April in a highly contested majority draw with former UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo. Stephens, a veteran of 51 fights in MMA, notably competed in the UFC 34 times between 2007 and 2021.

Diaz and Paul will be the headline act for the August 5 pay-per-view, marking Diaz’s highly-anticipated professional boxing debut since his exit from the UFC. The match is set for ten rounds and will surely draw an enormous audience.
