The highly anticipated rematch between Anthony Smith and Ryan Spann is confirmed for UFC Singapore

Sources with knowledge of the matchup have confirmed that Ryan Spann will receive another chance to face off against Anthony Smith in a light heavyweight bout at UFC Singapore on Aug. 26. This will be a rematch of their headline bout at UFC Vegas 37 where Smith emerged as the victor through first-round submission.

Anthony Smith is positioned at number 8 while Ryan Spann is ranked at number 13. A victory for either fighter is of utmost importance, as Smith has faced consecutive losses against Johnny Walker and Magomed Ankalaev, while Spann recently lost to Nikita Krylov through first-round submission this past March.

Spann last experienced defeat after a two-fight win streak snapped by Krylov, and has gone 3-3 in his past six contests, with all of them ending before the four-minute mark of Round 1. On the other hand, Smith has not won in all his matches since his victory against Spann in September 2021. With former UFC light heavyweight title aspirations, Smith’s record stands at 4-4 in his last eight outings.

The upcoming event will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore and is set to feature a featherweight bout between Max Holloway and Chan Sung Jung, also known as “The Korean Zombie”.
