Maycee Barber secures a second-round knockout victory against Amanda Ribas in a bloody and intense match at UFC Jacksonville

In what was her toughest challenge yet, Maycee Barber emerged victorious after a grueling battle against Amanda Ribas at UFC Jacksonville. The co-main event saw both women giving it their all in a flyweight bout that ended with blood pouring from their faces. However, it was Barber who secured the win with a superb showing in the second round, leading the referee to stop the fight.

The stoppage occurred into Round 2, marking Barber’s fifth consecutive win. It was also her first finish since her TKO win over Gillian Robertson in October 2019. Prior to that, Barber had secured a series of hard-fought decision victories.

After the fight, Barber expressed her satisfaction at winning in such a dominant manner. “It feels like I just warned the whole 125-pound division that I’m back and I’m coming for all of these finishes,” she said. “I feel like Amanda and I got the Fight of the Night and I would like the crowd to emphasize that.”

Barber got off to a strong start in Round 1, landing a powerful left hand that broke Ribas’ nose, prompting both women to bleed heavily from their faces throughout the fight. Barber was relentless in her attack, much like Tabatha Ricci – who won earlier in the night – and compared herself to the victorious strawweight.

Ribas fought back valiantly, using her speed and low kicks to keep Barber at bay. However, Barber countered just as fiercely, ultimately gaining the upper hand. And while Ribas attempted to take the fight to the ground, Barber proved too strong, fending off the submission attempts to land powerful strikes from a top position.

At the end of the fight, Ribas tried a desperate takedown but was countered with Barber’s heavy ground-and-pound, leading to the referee stopping the bout. For Ribas, this marks her second consecutive loss while competing at both strawweight and flyweight. As for Barber, this victory puts her on the map as one of the top talents in the division.
