After 13 years in the ring, MMA fighter Stevie Ray has once again announced his retirement. Losing his recent fight against Clay Collard at PFL 6, Ray has decided to walk away from the sport, noting his desire to pass on his knowledge and experience.
In addition to his recent loss, Ray struggled in the 2023 PFL regular season with two losses, failing to make the playoffs. His overall record with the PFL was 2-4, with wins against Anthony Pettis, a former UFC lightweight champion.
Ray also competed for the UFC, amassing a record of 7-4, with noteworthy victories over Michael Johnson, Joe Lauzon, and Ross Pearson. After his win against Johnson in late 2019, Ray announced his retirement from MMA due to a knee injury. His return to the ring was with the PFL in 2022, where he reached the finals of the lightweight tournament but lost to Olivier Aubin-Mercier.
Ray, who was a two-time lightweight champion in Cage Warriors, concluded his career with a final record of 25-13. Fans and the Cage Warrior promotion offered congratulatory messages to Ray for his inspiring career and well-deserved retirement.
