Deiveson Figueiredo, the former UFC flyweight champion, has expressed his desire to face Dominick Cruz in his bantamweight debut. Since his last fight against Brandon Moreno in January, which ended in defeat, Figueiredo has been contemplating moving up in weight class. Although he has not made a final decision yet, if he does choose to move up, he hopes to face Cruz in his debut at 135 pounds. According to Figueiredo, the former bantamweight champion is an excellent fighter and would be a challenging opponent to welcome him to the new weight class. He plans to train extensively in wrestling, especially defensive wrestling, and use his boxing skills to counter Cruz’s movement. While he acknowledges there are other great fighters in the division, he believes he needs to take it slow and show he has what it takes to fight for the belt.
