The pool of possible contenders for Conor McGregor has increased, with Carl Froch, a retired boxing champion, throwing his hat into the ring. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Froch on Fighting, he expressed an interest in fighting McGregor in the Irishman’s home arena. Despite acknowledging that neither he nor McGregor have a solid boxing pedigree, Froch boldly stated that he was confident he would emerge victorious as he is “too big and too strong for the both of them.” He went on to claim that he would only need one arm to defeat YouTuber Jake Paul in a boxing match.
Froch’s comments were not spoken lightly as he had previously engaged in a war of words with the two-time UFC champion on social media. McGregor never responded to the boxer’s numerous challenges to a boxing match. However, when Froch suggested fighting McGregor in an MMA match, the Irishman was quick to respond with urging promoter Eddie Hearn to “get this signed up.”
While both McGregor and Froch have expressed interest in fighting each other, they are presently preoccupied with their respective careers. McGregor is preparing for his UFC comeback after a two-year layoff, during which he was recovering from an injury. He is scheduled to fight former Bellator lightweight champ Michael Chandler later this year. Froch, on the other hand, is set to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame this summer, which will undoubtedly add to his already illustrious career.
