Aaron Jeffery eyes Bellator 293 victory as a stepping stone to face Johnny Eblen for the title, and a potential return to Canada

Aaron Jeffery is aware that he is in prime position to challenge for the Bellator middleweight championship if he can overcome John Salter in this Friday’s Bellator 293 event. Despite having only participated in two previous promotional bouts, Jeffery feels that a win over Salter would put him in the title picture ahead of other contenders.

Current Bellator 185-pound champion, Johnny Eblen, has expressed interest in facing the winner of the upcoming Bellator Paris event between former champion Gegard Mousasi and Fabian Edwards. Nonetheless, Jeffery is confident that he could be next in line for a title shot should he perform in impressive fashion against Salter.

Jeffery has been successful in his first two Bellator bouts, winning both by way of finish. In his most recent performance, he defeated Austin Vanderford in just 85 seconds at Bellator 284 in August. Meanwhile, Salter is currently on a two-fight losing streak following defeats to Mousasi and Eblen. Jeffery believes that he has studied Salter’s style enough to be well-prepared for what’s to come and anticipates an exciting matchup.

Furthermore, Jeffery is hopeful that a victory will be a catalyst for more Canadian fighters competing in Bellator and for the promotion to host events in Canada as early as 2023. He expressed his desire for the promotion to return to the country soon, as it has been nearly a decade since Bellator last visited Canada.
