Molly McCann, the famed British MMA fighter, is all set to return to the O2 Arena in London once again. This exciting news was revealed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on Tuesday, who also announced that McCann will be squaring off against Julija Stoliarenko, another flyweight fighter, on July 22.
This highly anticipated bout will mark McCann’s much-awaited comeback since her defeat at the hands of Erin Blanchfield at UFC 281. However, it should be noted that prior to this loss, “Meatball” had enjoyed a three-fight winning streak inside the octagon, including a sensational Fight of the Night with Ji Yeon Kim, followed by two incredible spinning back elbow knockouts over Luana Carolina and Hannah Goldy, earning her coveted Performance of the Night bonuses.
Notably, both of these fantastic performances were witnessed by a highly energized crowd at the O2, and it seems that McCann is eager to once again ignite the fire in her countrymen by putting on another brilliant display of her skills.
On the other hand, Stoliarenko, a 30-year-old Lithuanian fighter that joined UFC in 2020, seems to be struggling lately, losing four of her five fights in the promotion. However, the gritty fighter is keen to bounce back and prove her mettle by defeating the much-loved Liverpudlian in this upcoming bout.
As of now, McCann vs. Stoliarenko is the first confirmed fight for UFC London. Nevertheless, fans are eagerly waiting for more such exciting announcements on this much-awaited event.
